THOMAS KENEALLY (b.1935)
Schindlers List. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1982.
First American edition, signed and with several illuminating annotations by the author. Keneally’s Booker Prize winning novel tells the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist who saved the lives of over a thousand Jews during the Holocaust. Published in the same year under the title Schindlers Ark by Hodder and Stoughton in London, this first American edition instead uses the title made world famous by the Oscar winning film adaptation directed by Steven Spielberg. The author’s annotations refer to various aspects of the novel’s composition and its publication including the question of the title and his methods of research, and also provide a number of captions to explain the photographs which illustrate the book.

Octavo. Original quarter cloth, black lettering to spine, dust jacket (faint wear to corners).
