Lot Essay

Executed in 2012, Ann Cathrin November Høibo’s and present immaculate bronze casts of instant noodles. A recent graduate of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Høibo originally trained as a tapestry weaver, but has since cultivated a unique multi-media practice that aims to collapse the boundaries between the mechanically-produced and the handmade. These intricately-wrought, lustrous simulacra of a ubiquitous, mass-manufactured food item speak directly to her fascination with the relationship between craft and commerce. was included in Høibo’s first solo show at Standard (Oslo) in 2012. She has since exhibited at institutions including the Oslo Kunstforening and the Kristiansand Kunsthall.
