Created using a combination of water and pulverised iron, Daniel Lergon’s
Untitled exemplifies his fascination with scientific phenomena. Inspired by the cosmological separation of light and matter, Lergon seeks to capture the unpredictable behaviour of elemental materials on canvas. ‘The thinking about this very energetic, hot, dense universe where atoms suddenly were there, and matter became matter, and light became light, is something that has had an influence on the finding of these forms’, the artist has explained. ‘The shapes always come out of a spontaneous and not very constructed action ... I never really know what I do when I start, but the interaction and dynamics between the fabric and the applied material always brings about something new and different’ (D. Lergon in conversation with A. Holm and T. Zenth. h
