The work has not been examined outside its frame. The sheet is mounted to museum board, which is mounted to the backing board. A minute accretion is to the upper left quadrant, in a white passage, near the graphite passage. Faint abrasions and surface irregularities are visible occasionally, in keeping with the artist's working method.
