The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There are staple pinholes to the lower right corner and right vertical edge, presumably in keeping with the artist's working method. There is some minor rubbing to the edges with a few associated pinpoint paint losses in places. There are a few tension cracks to the extreme edges. There is a minor hairline accretion to the upper centre, measuring approximately 1in. in length. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
