The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is a fine layer of surface dust. There are a few depressions to the canvas corresponding with the stretcher bars. There are a few drying cracks in places to the impasto, in keeping with the ageing of the artist's chosen medium. There are a few pinpoint paint losses to the extreme edges. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be three areas that fluoresce in a manner consistent with retouching, most notably to the yellow and black passages to the centre left. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
