The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The canvas is slightly irregular to the upper corners, presumably a result of the artist’s stretcher. There is pinpoint rubbing to the extreme lower left corner and right vertical edge, with a few associated pinpoint paint losses. There are a few scattered hairline drying cracks to the red passages and to the right vertical edge. There is a minute paint loss to the upper left vertical edge measuring approximately 0.3in. in length. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
