The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
(i) The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some minor rubbing in places, most notably to the extreme edges. There are a few faint handling marks to the edges. The stretcher bar has left a faint impression, most notably to the upper left horizontal edge and right vertical edge. There are a few pinpoint accretions in places. There are a few minor linear abrasions in places, most notably to the right vertical edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
(ii) The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some minor rubbing and a few faint handling marks in places, most notably to the lower right quadrant. There are a few pinpoint accretions in places. There are a few minor hairline abrasions in places, most notably to the right vertical edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
