The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The extreme edges of the canvas are irregular. There is a linear paint loss to the lower extreme horizontal edge measuring approximately 2cm. in length. There are some minute hairline accretions to the lower left quadrant. There are areas of fine drying craquelure in places, predominantly in a central band corresponding to the central horizontal stretcher bar, and in places to the lower right corner. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any inpainting. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to generally good condition.
