This Coldie Decentral Eyes portrait is hand fabricated using steel Dibond which is printed and then routed to create the signature Coldie collage style established in the founding days of crypto art. This portrait combines the face of Warren Buffett juxtaposed with Filthy Fiat dollar bills. This artwork signifies the first time Coldie’s portraiture has been shown as a physical 3D sculpture.

In the artists words: “I’m always looking for ways to explore the illusion of depth in my work. The idea of using magnets to affix the facial features to a backdrop has really opened my eyes to new possibilities of creating actual 3D depth. By encouraging the collector to rearrange the composition, an ongoing collaboration allows it to be ‘living’ art. The combination of steel, magnetism, and imagery of fragile dollar bills creates a duality of values.” The collaborative changes that are made will be recorded on the blockchain for provenance.

The facial features that make up the portrait are all derived from the same collection of bills that the artst himself buried for safekeeping. The years spent below ground ultimately resulted in the bills being rendered “mutilated” as they were covered in mold and other contaminants. By using deteriorating dollar bills as the visual motif a comparison to the debasement of fiat currency is clearly stated.

“I realized this money was actually a generative art project and that I had an opportunity to educate about the fragility of fiat currency.”

The narrative behind “Filthy Fiat” was born.

The digital artwork is composed of 10 recursive portrait elements creates the Warren Buffett portrait. The collage elements include United States dollar bills that have been buried underground for 2 years by Coldie as a SHTF stash. Over the time it was buried, the bills were contaminated by moisture creating mold and resulting in very fragile bills. This unintentional generative art by nature began the "Filthy Fiat" art series. This is the first 1/1 release for the series. The digital artwork is paired with a physical 1/1 magnetic 3D portrait that features individual pieces of the portrait that can be moved around and customized.
