The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The sheet is hinged at the upper corners to the backing board and undulates slightly. Very minor wear is along the edges and to the corner-tips, and a few soft handling indents are scattered. Small losses are to heavier application of watercolor, in keeping with the artist's choice of medium. Only visible under very close inspection and ultraviolet light, tiny spots of discoloration are occasionally along the left edge. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light. The Baselitz studio has noted that the artist’s choice of ink is particularly light sensitive, and museum standard UV protection glass for display is recommended to preserve the condition.
