The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The sheet is hinged at the upper corners to the backing board and undulates slightly. The upper and left edges of the sheet are deckled. Faint wear and a few minute handling marks are occasionally to the corner-tips and edges, and a tiny bump is to the lower right corner-tip. An artist's pinhole is to the lower right corner, and a few more are above center near the central figure's head. A tiny loss is above and left of center near the central figure's ear, possibly an artist's skip. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.
