Lot Essay

Louise Nevelson created this particular around the same time she was working on her monumental which resides in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Nevelson created around two or three works that she was also considering donating to the Metropolitan Museum; however, she ultimately retained all of them. This particular was given to Dianna MacKown, her studio assistant, who then loaned the work to her memorable Farnsworth show in 1979.
