The sheet is hinged at the corners to backing board and undulates very slightly. The lower edge is deckled. Faint creases are visible occasionally, likely from past rolling of the support. A few discolored fibrous accretions are visible under close inspection to the white passage. A red accretion is near the lower edge, possibly a vestige of the artist’s working method. An area of faint surface rubbing and slightly discolored linear marks are to the white passage, presumably from previous storage. An abrasion is near the upper edge. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.
