The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Minor wear is along the extreme edges, and artist’s pinholes are to the corners, most of which are not visible when framed. A few minute losses are to the brown passages near the lower edge, in the house passage, and to the tip of the figure’s hat left of center. Pinpoint losses with associated very faint lifting are near the figure’s head near the left edge. Under very close inspection, extremely fine cracking is visible to the heavier passages of white paint. Minute spots of faint rubbing are visible occasionally, primarily to the impasto peaks. A very faint abrasion is below the horse’s head. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.
