The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on canvas
The canvas has been relined.
The paint layer appears to be secure and stable
The painted surface has an uneven varnish layer.
There are some areas of localised craquelure visible predominantly in the sky.
There is a little scuffing relating to frame abrasions at the extremities.
Examination under UV light shows a restored thin (approximately 16 cm) line of inpainting to earlier damage running from left to right above the streetlight to the left corner of the composition.
The varnish fluoresces light green which impairs closer inspection.
Overall the work presents very well in a simple brown and gilt coloured frame with name plate.
