Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on canvas. Not lined. Some frame abrasion and a small hole from wear at the tip of the upper right corner. A small puncture towards the lower left corner and a small paint loss slightly above. Faint stretcher-bar marks are present. A faint scratch in the trees towards the lower right. Some surface dirt. Some fine lines of craquelure in the sky, predominantly in the impasto. Examined under ultra-violet light: there is evidence of some spots and strokes of retouching towards the upper corners and in an area towards the upper right of the sky. The foreground with some scattered small spots and strokes of cosmetic retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that the present work appears to be in generally good condition.
