Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In fairly good restored condition overall. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. As stated regilt. The current gilding rubbed deliberately overall revealing red bole. The present gilding is rather yellow in tone and would benefit from possibly toning down further to remove the deliberate rubbing. Some minor areas of chipping and losses to the gilding. The plate apparently original and in good condition but with some very minor localised losses to silvering. Some minor areas of restoration to the carved frame visible to the reverse. Otherwise structurally secure and ready to hang.
