The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Generally good restored condition.
The whole has been cleaned and repolished and the finish is bright.
As mentioned in the cataloguing text, the pediment, grille-panels to the bookcase section, and the feet are later/replaced but work well.
The handles may be good replacements but this is not conclusive, some of the locks are replaced, there is also possibly some replacement to the fittings to the secretaire drawer as well as other minor repairs and restorations throughout.
Whilst the treatment has been relatively aggressive, the whole presents well and all elements are consistent.
Hallidays restoration label to the reverse inscribed ‘C167’
Overall minor shrinkage, movement, slight warping and cracking as well as the expected minor knocks and wear consistent with age and use.
Structurally sound and in good usable condition.
