The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
These substantial and imposing bookcases are in good overall condition. There is minor shrinkage throughout, notably to the doors which no longer meet as tightly as they once would have. The silk-lined interiors with remnants of electrical light fittings – these should either be removed or rewired by a qualified electrician prior to use – they have not been tested by Christie’s and are sold as part of these bookcases, which are offered for sale as decorative, not electrical objects.
Some light crazing to the lacquered finish in areas.
Plywood has been used in the construction of these bookcases, as is usual in furniture of this age.
Overall minor knocks, scratches and wear consistent with age and light use.
Structurally sound and in generally good usable condition.
