The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas. Examined within the frame. On close inspection, some light frame abrasion to the extreme edges in places, predominantly visible at lower extreme edge and extreme corners, visible in the online illustration. Viewed in raking light, there is a very faint stretcher bar mark at the upper left edge, and a further line to the canvas at the lower left corner. Some surface dirt. Examined under ultraviolet light, there is some fluorescence to the extreme edges, corresponding to the aforementioned frame abrasion. Some further very light instances along the upper horizontal edge and within the sphinx postcard in the upper right corner. Subject to the above the work appears to be in very good overall condition.
