The canvas is unlined. There is some craquelure. The paint layer is rather thin in places, most notably the sea.
Under UV light there are some areas of retouching to old frame abrasions at the upper and left edges. A thin wash appears to have been applied in areas of the sky and the sea. There is some retouching to a line of stretcher stressing in the upper quarter of the canvas. One or two small lines of inpainting to craquelure in the sky.
