The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
These two inkwells are in generally good decorative overall condition with the expected minor wear and rubbing, especially to the base of the rectangular example, as visible in the illustration, there is an old, but probably not original unfinished wooden panel to the interior of the lid, which is a little ink-stained, the flaming brazier is also a little loose to the cover. The apparently contemporary iron/steel panel to the underside of the cylindrical example has partially rusted through.
