After studying gemmology in New York, Manuel Bouvier spent his first years working for Cartier in the High Jewellery department that was to later include the Cartier Museum. Learning what the market was producing in fine gems and discovering the legacy of Cartier period jewels, he developed a taste for unusual and refined designs. He then collaborated with Marina Bulgari, who taught him a certain rigor in designs and fantasy in colours.
In 1992 he set up his own company, assisted by skilled workshops using ancient techniques and modern materials, Manuel Bouvier manufactures one-of-a-kind pieces to enhance the gems he purchases around the world, from the rarest diamonds to the most colourful stones and pearls. He creates bespoke pieces for clients and friends that are wearable and understated. Craftmanship is at the centre of his production.
'It is important for me to try and draw a line between the 'jewellery industry' heavily mechanised and rationalised and high jewellery in the old sense, combining stones and materials either in a moment of shared pleasure with a client or just for pure joy'.
