Lot Essay

References 3330 and 3335 are amongst the largest chronograph wristwatches ever produced by Rolex. Although not part of the instantly recognizable Oyster family, they have gained a distinguished position in the world of collector's watches, thanks to the twelve-hour register (a feature which was never available at Patek Philippe for example) and the beautiful case proportions, the perfect effigy of 1940s design.

The present example further outstands itself by the salmon coloured dial. Featuring both a telemeter and tachometer scale, the dial developed some very attractive and natural patina and turned in a slightly darker tone. Together with the sharp bezel and lugs, this fabulous timepiece is just to the taste of fans in vintage Rolex community.
