At the center of this mandala is an image of the bliss-body form of tathagata Amitabha, known as Amitayus, in union with his consort. This meditation practice comes from a student of the famous Tibetan saint, Milarepa, called Rechungpa, who is said to have received the teaching from an Indian pandit while in India. Lineage holders Milarepa and Rechungpa can be seen along the lower portion of this painting’s top register, along with a figure who is likely the Indian pandit who transmitted these teachings and another figure that bears the appearance of a bodhisattva. The bottom register is filled with the five sisters of long life, Tseringma at center. Himalayan Art Resources, item no. 24539.
