Details
Group of three handwritten letters from significant ballplayers c.1910 to Cincinnati promoter D.A. Fletcher, regarding a post-season barnstorming series between major league stars of the day. Includes: Bill Carrigan (1883-1969) who gives teammate Tris Speaker’s measurements as well as his own for uniforms for the series; Harry Lord (1882-1948) of the Chicago White Sox; and Art Devlin (1879-1948) of the New York Giants. The proposed All Star Series was quickly banned by baseball's National Commission (predecessor to the Baseball Commissioner) and players were forced to return any money they had accepted. Letters are inscribed and signed in black ink. Overall Excellent condition.
