Details
An Official National League (Lynch) baseball inscribed WORLD’S SERIES 1913 on the sweet-spot, and Fifth Game, Oct. 11th, Athletics 3, Giants 1 along with additional indecipherable inscriptions including what may be a room number in a New York hotel, and the name Wally Schang (catcher on the Philadelphia Athletics during that World Series). The fifth and deciding game of the 1913 World Series pitted New York Giants ace Christy Mathewson versus the Athletics Eddie Plank, with the Athletics victorious in five games. Additionally, the baseball appears to have been signed, C.Mathewson and Ed Plank in black ink (however Christie's cannot guarantee the authenticity of those signatures). Overall Fair condition with staining, scratches and scuffs.
