A collection of four uniform player contracts for members of the 1931 New York Yankees, a team notable for holding the modern day record for team runs scored in a season with 1,067. Includes contracts for: Fred “Dixie” Walker (1910-1982) best known for his reluctance to play on the same team as Jackie Robinson in 1947; William “Ben” Chapman (1908-1993) an excellent player who became notorious for shouting racist epithets at Jackie Robinson as Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies in 1947; George Pipgras (1899-1986) member of the legendary 1927 New York Yankees; and James T. Burke. Besides being signed by the players, each contract is countersigned Jacob Ruppert in the hand of General Manager Ed Barrow (which was the custom at the time),and E.S. Barnard as President of the American League. Overall Excellent condition.
