Color lithographic Tuxedo Tobacco box c.1910, featuring the timeless visage of Christy Mathewson. Considered one of the most desirable and rarest pieces of baseball advertising extant, the offered Tuxedo Tobacco box exhibits exceptional color, but also displays significant damage. While there are many breaks and tears throughout the six sides of the box, a majority of the original material is intact and therefore theoretically restorable. Extensive paper restoration will be required to bring this box back to its original state. Christie’s will be happy to provide a recommendation regarding a restorer who has already examined the box.
