A four page fold over contract for the 1901 season, between shortstop Lewis Carr (1872-1954) and the Pittsburgh Pirates, signed by Harry Pulliam (1869-1909) as Secretary of the Pittsburgh Athletic Co. Club in black ink. Pulliam become the President of the National League in 1903, his controversial tenure culminating in the decision to stand by the umpire’s call of the infamous “Merkle’s Boner” resulting in a series of events which lead to a Chicago Cubs victory over the New York Giants for the National League pennant in 1908. Pulliam took his own life in 1909, resulting in very few known signatures of this important baseball executive. Overall Very Good condition, with the bottom section of the contract having been excised long ago.
