A Hillerich & Bradsby, lathe bat dating from the 1935 labeling period. The bat shows evidence of having been factory side written Kansas City Monarchs BBC and exhibits lathe marks on the knob and top barrel. During the first half of the 20th Century, it was commonplace for players to send a preferred model bat back to the factory to request models of the same type. Once at the factory, it would be planed and inscribed with the length, weight, player’s name, date received and team affiliation. This lathe bat was used as a template to create player bats for the Kansas City Monarchs during the 1935 season. Authenticated by PSA/DNA.
