FURTHER DETAILS
The Hamilton Easter Field Foundation, which published the present lot, was established in 1930 in Portland, Maine. The foundation's namesake, Hamilton Easter Field, was an American artist, critic, educator, and collector in the early 20th century. Field worked with and sold works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, George Bellows, Henri Fantin-Latour, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi; Field also established the Ogunquit Summer Art Colony, which operated until 1962. The foundation's collection is now held by the Portland Museum of Art.
