Alongside artists like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Scharf developed a style which he called “Pop-Surrealism,” becoming a prolific artist who has worked in many media including painting, printmaking, drawing, and sculpture. He has exhibited widely, including at the Salvador Dali Museum, the Bienalle de Sao Paolo, the Queens Museum of Art, and the Hammer Museum. From 1998-2002 Scharf worked with Graphicstudio on seven print editions.
