Lot Essay
The Chanel collaboration with Reebok is one of the first high end exclusive sneaker collaborations in contemporary fashion history. From the Chanel 2001 Spring/Summer collection shown in Paris, a limited number of runway samples were given to friends and family after the show, making them exceptionally rare. The Chanel 2001 collection pre-dated high end fashion houses collaborating with sneaker companies, making this Chanel X Reebok collaboration revolutionary, with many collectors referring to them as a “unicorn” in sneaker collecting.
The shoes present the iconic interlocking ‘C’ Chanel logo stamped onto the heel with a plastic retroreflective material. The uppers have an embroidered Reebok logo in reflective silver threading. The rest of the uppers are composed of a mix of high quality leather, common with Chanel, and the classic Reebok pump feature.
