Lot Essay

Bolide was designed in 1923 by Émile Hermès for drivers who enjoyed traveling with style. Émile Hermès introduced zippers to France after World War I. He incorporated Hermes leather making craftsmanship with zips and created the world’s first zipped handbag. Till today, there have been a variety of different designs of this model, including a series of limited edition with rainbow color palettes from Spring 2020. Hermès used multiple tones to create rainbow-like shades to mimic different timings of a day, from sunrise to sunset. This design also pays tributes to speed racing cars tracks with its geometric lines, making Rainbow Bolide the most energetic handbag.
