Born in the Faroe Islands, and now based in London, Rannva Kunoy paints mesmerising abstract works that play with light, colour and optics. Inspired by artists such as Lucio Fontana and Dan Flavin, her works explore the interaction between the painted canvas and its spatial environment. ‘There is a sense of the movement in them’, she explains. ‘Because as you walk from one side to the next, the colour changes. It’s almost like a lamp. They are a light generator.’ Trained at the Royal College of Art, Kunoy was included in the Saatchi Gallery’s group show Known Unknowns (2018), and has exhibited in both Europe and America. Her works are held in collections including the Centre PasquArt, Biel and the Statens Kunstfond, Denmark.
