A bright copy of the first American edition, in cloth, of Melville's second book. "A superb copy of the first American edition of the sequel to Typee, describing Melville's adventures in Tahiti" (Reese). BAL 13656.

Octavo. Half-title, frontispiece map, 18 pp. of ads at rear (some minor spotting internally). Original green cloth gilt, marbled endpapers (minor rubbing to extremities).
