The Poetry of Love, from the Most Celebrated Authors, with Several Original Pieces. Philadelphia: Thomas Wardle, 1844.

Fanny Melville's copy, a gift from her brother. "Melville enjoyed giving books as presents, and went to some pains to find suitable gifts for family members. He presented this colleciton of verse to his sister Fanny in the summer of 1868" (Reese). It bears the inscription: “Fanny from Herman N.Y. June 1868.” Sealts attributes the inscription to "Mrs Melville," most likely referring to Elizabeth Shaw Melville. Sealts 404b.
