Triple-decker first edition of Melville's masterpiece, preceding the American printing by a month and containing substantial textual differences. The present is a very clean copy in a sympathetic binding. BAL 13663; Grolier American 60; Sadleir Excursions 1685.

Three volumes, octavo (190 x 120mm). Half-title in volume one only, as called for. Modern half morocco over marbled boards.
