Louis-Émile Décorchemont was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the workshops of Aimé Millet and Auguste Dumont . He exhibited at the Salon of French artists from 1877 with a Young martyr in plaster (Bernay Museum of Fine Arts ) and obtained a third class medal in 1878 for the plaster of his Oreste pursued by the Furies (location unknown). His civic works were almost exclusively for his native region of Neubourg and include a monument to Dupont de l'Eure for the city in 1881 and monumental fountain in Évreux in 1882 and another in 1888 for Bayeux, though almost all were destroyed under the Vichy regime.
Décorchemont most famously completed Jean-Léon Gérôme's Corinthe, a marble and polychromed masterpiece show exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1904 alongside Rodin's Thinker and Constantin Meunier's Miner.
