Nick Brandt's photography has long focused on African wildlife and the disappearance of their natural habitat. Brandt's large-scale black and white photographs capture the majesty and act as a testament to the quickly diminishing population of the animals that roam Tanzania and Kenya. In the present lot, Brandt lens points up at five massive elephants roaming a barren landscape - a landscape that might suggest the key threat to elephants today: habitat loss.
