Lot Essay

The Italian-born Conceptual artist Piero Golia has a practice that extends beyond the studio, which often includes large-scale installations and interventions. The present lot, Constellation #3 is from the artist's series of "Constellation Paintings," where metal and glass detritus, remnants from an outrageous accident where a taxi crashed into the artist's home, are embedded into a glossy black resin surface. These embedded elements, varying in sheen and color, form a luminous, cosmic horizon.
