Lot Essay

In his series of Nude paintings, Scott Lyall uses mathematical interpolations from which his pale colors are derived. Using a combination of inks that then pass through UV-based printers, Lyall's technique allows for a soft ebb and flow between shades of nude to create subtle textures and tonalities. The present lot, Nude 43, is a tonal assemblage, a kind of digital field or horizon of soft pinks that ever so slightly come into sight.
