The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The drawing is laid down on a vertical album folio. There are remains of a cloth binding along the left side. The drawing is laid down vertically so that the folio must be rotated to view the drawing. As visible in the catalogue photograph there is some very minor brown staining in places, above and below the elephant with mahout. There are some tiny white spots (or flakes?) on the elephant - two on the ear, two along the foreleg. The drawing is very well preserved overall.
The folio is slightly warped. The reverse has scuffed marks with a defaced inscription in black pencil.
