The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The upper part shows some brownish traces and patches of glue. The opaque pigments have flakes in places, especially the green in a near circular area spreading from the back and top of the ruler's turban. The main area of damage is restricted to the upper part of this paining where the cloudy blue sky is. The flaking has not affected the sitter safe for a very minor part to his right foot. The painting is stained in places. some stains are due to damp. the reverse is water stained overall.
