This painting has been exposed to humidity leading to some scattered water stains, drip marks, pigment losses and warped areas. Its surface shows some scratching, mostly located in front of the stallion and to its rear towards its tail. The main areas of losses can be noticed along the edges which are also scuffed and fritted. Those damages seldom affect the sitter. The two upper corners are extensively damaged. The left corner shows a substantial loss which used to contain part of the identification inscription.
