This portrait of the young prince is painted in a style heavily influenced by European photographic conventions of the time.
Sawai Man Singh II was the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur. He was a keen sportsman and a celebrated polo player. Married three times; his first two wives were from the royal family of Jodhpur, his third wife was the legendary Gayatri Devi of Cooch Behar.
