This painting has been patched in some marginal areas as can be seen on the illustration of the reverse. It shows some damages consistent with an exposure to humidity such as light creases, scuffing and discolouration of the pigments, affecting the spandrels.the white pigments of the ruler's shirt shows some pitting. His face and shoulders are not affected.
