Lot Essay

This painting is from my Flower Series which has developed outside of my usual abstract work. I default back to painting flowers for several reasons: it’s meditative to paint from an image, flowers are pretty, and people like to look at them. Similar to my abstract art, I prefer to fill the entire canvas with the composition.

I will create these pieces every 5 paintings or so when I’m feeling in need of inspiration from nature. Looking back, I can see how each flower painting has been a catalyst for a change in my overall portfolio. Any paintings that immediately follow these works draw from their overall color, composition, or line quality.
